As the digital world continues to evolve at a breathtaking pace, South Africa is preparing for one of the most important conversations of the decade — the South African Internet Governance Forum (ZAIGF) 2025.
From 6–8 May 2025, ZAIGF will bring together policymakers, civil society organizations, academics, technologists, business leaders, and community activists to reflect, engage, and envision the future of Internet governance in South Africa. And this year’s forum carries even greater significance as we review our national progress in the context of WSIS+20.
Why ZAIGF 2025 Matters
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), launched two decades ago, set a powerful global agenda for building inclusive, people-centered information societies.
Now, as WSIS+20 approaches, South Africa joins the world in taking stock: How far have we come? Where are the gaps? And how can we ensure that the Internet continues to serve as a force for inclusion, development, and human rights?
ZAIGF 2025 provides the platform to answer these critical questions — and shape the next chapter of our Internet story.
Theme:
"Reviewing South Africa's Internet Governance Progress in the Context of WSIS+20"
This year's theme invites deep reflection on our national Internet governance journey, celebrating successes, acknowledging challenges, and identifying urgent priorities as we move forward in an increasingly interconnected world.
